UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd sounded out the possibility of marketing the Prius model hybrid in Malaysia next year. At this time the UMW side held discussions with principals Toyota Motor Corporation. Loo aimed at his side has begun to market Prius officially in Malaysia next year. Loo said, the side principals Japan not yet will give Prius marketing permission, before the Malaysian government announced giving of the tax discount in the budget.
In the budget proposal 2009 included, the abolition import duty and the reduction in the tax cost as far as 50 percent for the vehicle that had the machine capacity under 2,000 cc for the importer who held the official right the marketing brand certain. Loo also commented, the volume of the sale hybrid will depend on the price and the economical value that were contained to this car.
